1) Any time you enter the property we ask that you stop in at the office to check in. The exception to this rule is simply if you are looking at paver displays and you do not need assistance.
2) The speed limit is 10 miles per hour on the facility. As you approach and leave the scale the speed limit is 5 miles per hour.
3) When pulling on and off the scale you must drive in a straight line. Do not cut the corners of the scale to pull on the scale or off the scale.
4) Only one vehicle is permitted on the scale at a time. You must wait until the vehicle in front of you is entirely off the scale before driving on the scale.
5) Stay in the cab of your vehicle while getting loaded. Do not climb into the bed of the truck, sit on the edge of the bed, or walk behind or under equipment while in use. Once the loader is finished loading your vehicle you may tarp your truck.
6) Beeping is only acceptable to avoid being hit by another vehicle or for life threatening situations. Do not beep to get the attention of our staff or out of frustration at other vehicles in the yard. We have residential neighbors and we try to maintain a sense of common curtesy and respect for others at our facility.
6) Our staff is not required to hand load materials into vehicles. If your purchase requires materials be hand loaded onto your vehicle we can assist by using a forklift to make hand loading more manageable for you or your crew members.
7) You are responsible and encouraged to to know and abide by the laws and regulations of New Jersey pertaining to truck maintenance, operation, and safety on public roads.
8) You are responsible to know the limitations of the vehicle you are driving. If you believe your vehicle cannot handle what you need you can make multiple trips or schedule a delivery.
Knowing how much material to order can save you a lot of time and money. We suggest using the following equations:
Mulch (by the yard):
LENGTH X WIDTH X DEPTH (IN INCHES). DIVIDE BY 270.
Topsoil (by the yard):
LENGTH X WIDTH X (DEPTH X .084) . DIVIDE BY 27.
Stone/Gravel/Sand/ Screenings (by the ton):
LENGTH X WIDTH X DEPTH (IN INCHES). DIVIDE BY 200.
REMEMBER: MEASURE TWICE, CUT ONCE. The mathematical formulas are only as good as the information plugged into them.
The procedure varies from product to product. All purchases and pick ups require a stop-in at the office prior to receiving materials.
Sand, stone, salt and debris drop off require a weigh in on the scale prior to proceeding into the yard. Park your vehicle on the scale and check in at the office. From there you drive straight off the scale and to the pile of materials. Once loaded you will head back to the scale to weigh out and pay for materials in the office.
Topsoil and mulch do not require a weigh in on the scale because these materials are sold by the yard. Upon arrival please stop into the office to purchase materials and to receive a receipt to show the loader operator prior to getting loaded with materials.
No, we do not sell exclusively to contractors. However, we do recommend hiring a knowledgeable and experienced contractor for hardscape installations and to figure out the materials you need for hardscaping jobs.
If an item you would like is in stock it is considered available for pick up at that time. If the materials are not stocked, special ordered, or require a delivery the turn around time is on a case-by-case basis depending on the circumstances. Most deliveries can be executed between 1 and 7 days. We always recommend preplanning with a contractor in order to ensure that projects are timed out appropriately and do not overwhelm your job site.
At this time we do not take brush or dirt.
Any requests for deliveries beyond a driveway or paved area are solely up to the driver and are based on his analysis of the property at the time of delivery. We make no guarantee that a delivery can go off an area meant to be driven on. Deliveries off a driveway can be hindered by obstacles and conditions not apparent until the delivery has already been executed and the driver is at the job site. Our drivers tend to be very helpful and will do what they can, but safety is paramount.
We have a variety of different trucks to suite your needs.
Our mason dump is the smallest of our fleet and can hold up to 5 tons/yards of materials. This truck is ideal for smaller areas. A minimum of 10 feet clearance is required for this truck.
Our single axle is a medium sized truck that can hold up to 10 tons/yards of materials. A minimum of 10 feet of clearance is required for this truck.
Our tri axle is ideal when you have a large building project and want to get the best rate. This truck can hold up to 25 tons of materials.
Our flatbed is ideal for palletized materials and when various materials need to be delivered to a job site.
This is a very difficult question to answer because each brand has unique products and colors that could suite your specific project best. We suggest beginning with what color, style, and budget works best for your job.
We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, Cash, and (in some circumstances) checks*. If you use a credit card for your purchase a 3% surcharge is added to the balance by the credit card processing company.
*Checks must clear the bank prior to receiving any materials. We do not accept checks upon delivery of materials.
Bulk Materials: Most bulk materials may be returned provided that they were not used or mixed with any other materials and that the materials are a stock item at NBCM. Bulk material returns will be subject to inspection prior to return otherwise it could render any refund or store credit moot. Bulk material returns are based on a calculation of the NET and GROSS weights of return; not on quantity indicated on sales receipts.
Pavers/Hardscaping: All paver material is sold “as is” unless an issue arises that is covered under warrantee by the manufacturer. It is the customer’s responsibility to review the manufacturer’s warrantee prior to purchase. Unopened materials (unless special order) may be returned, at the customer’s expense, and could be subject to a 25% restocking charge. If NBCM opts to sell an item by any unit other than pallet (row, band, etc.) and a return is requested these items must be returned back in the exact same quantity and layout as it was sold. For this reason a refund is not guaranteed when returning any sort of a partial pallet until the materials have been inspected and counted. Special order materials are not subject to return or refunds. Installation of any of the materials renders the materials unreturnable to NBCM. NBCM is in no way responsible for installation quality.
Pallet Returns: Returned pallets must be pallets sold by NBCM. Manufacturers charge for their pallets and expect us to return specific pallets, which are usually denoted by a company logo, name, color, etc. We cannot accept pallets that have significant damage such as saw marks or have been rendered useless. Customer is responsible to return pallets. It is not our company policy to pick up pallets on a customer’s behalf without charging a pick up fee. Refunds can only be issued for pallets returned within 2 months of purchase, must be accompanied by proof of purchase, and may be less than the original amount charged depending on the refund policy of the manufacturer.
Limestone/Natural Stone: Sold ‘as is’. NBCM will not issue a refund or return for damaged, cracked, or broken limestone pieces. Limestone pieces that are in good condition can be returned for a store credit or refund upon inspection.
Deliveries: Any purchase of a delivery is done with the full knowledge that NBCM is not responsible for damage done when delivering off public roads. Delivery is guaranteed to the driveway or a paved area accessible from a road. Any delivery request to go off the driveway is done by the driver’s discretion and is not a decision made by the sales representative at the time of purchase. A refund will not be issued for a delivery if upon arrival to site the driveway or drop point is not in a condition to receive the materials. This includes but is not limited to cars blocking the driveway, narrow driveways, and trees or wires blocking access or functionality of vehicle. A minimum of 10ft clearance is required for most dump truck access.
Other Considerations: It is strongly recommended that a receipt be provided at the time of return for any merchandise. If it cannot be proven or recalled that the materials were purchased from NBCM a refund will not be offered. Refunds and credits will only be given back to the purchaser. For example, if a homeowner purchases the materials our policy is to issue refunds back to the homeowner, not to the contractor or the contractor’s account. Payments made by card must be credited back to the card. Returns and like exchanges have a 30 day window. Products cannot be opened or used in order to qualify for a return or exchange.
Clearance: Items marked 'clearance' are neither returnable nor refundable and are sold 'as is.'
A surcharge may be added to the total of all purchases made via card by the card processing company. Cash, certified checks, and money orders are alternative payment options NBCM will accept in lieu of cards to avoid this charge. This surcharge cannot be refunded by NBCM as it is a charge made by the credit card processing company.
